Molecular Imaging and Manipulation - Equipment

Welcome to the Molecular Imaging and Manipulation Facility!

The Molecular Imaging and Manipulation Facility offers a range of techniques, which are mainly aimed at single-molecule studies. Currently, the following techniques are available:

    topography imaging
    force spectroscopy/molecular manipulation

  • Optical Tweezers
    force spectroscopy/molecular manipulation

  • Spinning Disk Confocal Microscopy
    high-speed 3D confocal imaging

  • Superresolution Localization Microscopy (PALM/STORM/...)
    Superresolution fluorescence imaging

  • Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (TIRF)
    structural imaging and single-molecule tracking with improved fluorescence signal-to-noise ratio and thus high localization precision

  • Fluorescence Recovery after Photobleaching (FRAP)
    evaluation of molecular dynamics

  • Epi-Fluorescence, DIC, Darkfield and Brightfield
    standard wide-field imaging

  • Interferometric Scattering Microscopy (iSCAT)
    label-free detection of biomolecules
    high-speed single-molecule tracking

The iSCAT setup furthermore provides you with the opportunity to work at a home-built microscopy setup which allows for customization of the measurements. We plan to provide more setups like that in the future. Feel free to contact us and provide us with wishes/ideas you might have.

Superresolution Localization Microscopy (STORM/PALM/...) measurements.
Equipped with two high-end EMCCD cameras, objective heater and stage heater/cooler.
Laser lines: 405, 488, 561, 647 nm.
Halogen Lamp (w/ filters for fluorescence excitation).
