Dr. Salvatore Girardo

Dr. Salvatore Girardo

Salvatore Girardo investigates micro nano-fabrication technologies on organic and inorganic materials mainly applied to microfluidics research area, developing new approaches for the liquid flow control at micro scale. He is graduated in Physics and in 2008 he got his PhD in Innovative Materials and Technologies at the ISUFI, University of Salento (Italy). He continued his research career with about five years (2008-2013) of Post-Doc at the CNR-Nano of Lecce (Italy), working in collaboration with different International Institutes (University of Oxford, Harvard University, Delft University of Technology, NEST of Pisa, IIT Genova, Politecnico of Milan). In 2013 He decided to join the Johannstadt Campus as head of the new Microstructure Facility with the idea to make available his skills in micro-nanotechnology and microfluidics to researchers interested in the development of  functional tools  for biological and biomedical application. Currently he is focused on research, development and service in close collaboration with research entities internal and external to the TU Dresden mainly supporting research projects with the optimization of prototypes. Salvatore Girardo is the author of about 30 scientific publications and inventor on two patents.
